We have been learning all about autumn in Junior Infants. We now know all the autumn colours and we have been looking for autumn leaves everywhere we go.  Our Moms and Dads have been helping us too and have been sending in lots of autumn leaves, acorns and pine cones and even a pumpkin in with us to school. Some of our Moms and Dads have also been teaching us the special names for all the autumn leaves. We also made autumn pumpkins in school, it was lots of fun.

We had lots of fun in Junior Infants at Halloween. We really enjoyed dressing up and coming to school in our costumes. Teacher was very scared of us all! We played some Halloween games in school like “unlucky dip” and we all tasted some Báirín Breac. One person in our class found the ring and has invited us all to the wedding! We also had a cake sale in school that day and we got to have some treats it was lots of fun.

We have been reading lots of stories and books in Junior Infants. Some of our favourite stories have been; “Pardon Said the Giraffe, Come Along Daisy, Rosie’s Walk and Peepo!” Another favourite story of ours is; “Dear Zoo”. In the story the Zoo Keepers keep sending animals from the Zoo to us as pets. Some are too scary, some are too naughty, but in the end they send an animal that is just right.  Can you make a “Prediction”, what animal is in the box in our picture?

Colours Day

We had a special colours day in school for all the boys and girls who live in the Philippines. We found the Philippines on a map of the world in school and we said a special prayer for all the Boys and Girls.

Luimneach Abú

We had a very special day in school, when The Munster Senior Cup and The Munster Minor Cup came to visit us. We were very excited in Junior Infants to see the cups. Tom Morissey and Stephen Power brought the cups to our school. We all said Luimneach Abú when we saw them and we sang “Limerick Your My Lady” in our Classroom.

Science Week

We had lots of fun during science week in Junior Infants. We learnt all about birds. We now know that birds have wings and beaks and that they live in nests. We even had two nests sent into our class for us to look at. We also know the names of many different types of birds; like a magpie and a goldfinch and what they look like. Every time we saw a bird we had to tell teacher and she put a sticker beside the bird’s picture. In our class we saw more crows than any other bird. We also learnt in Junior Infants that it is very important to feed the birds during winter and we now have our very own bird feeder in school. We also made bright and colourful birds during art.
