First Holy Communion

On Saturday May 18th we, the boys and girls in second class, made our First Holy Communion. Thirty children made their communion this year and the mass was in St. Joseph’s Church in Castleconnell. We were very excited, as we each had a job to do. We had to bring up the gifts, do readings, sing, say our prayers and receive the bread of life for the first time. Fr. Kyne gave us a present of a prayer card, a pin badge and a certificate to remember our special day. After the mass, we went back to the school for photographs and refreshments. Later that day, we celebrated with our friends and families. We all had a great day, it was so much fun!

Masterchef Lisnagry

During the year we had great fun learning about recipes. We followed recipes to make rice crispie buns and pizzas in school!!We really enjoyed recording “Masterchef Lisnagry”. Best of all was having a pizza party while watching ourselves on the big screen.

Interesting Investigations

2nd class is full of little scientists!! We did lots of exciting experiments this year. We examined magnets, made ramps for cars, mixed lotions and potions, tested to see what would float and sink….we even made raisins dance!! Our favourite investigation of all was creating a volcanic eruption.

Our Class Field Trips

This year we have been out and about on lots of different fieldtrips. We went to the post- office to send letters to Santa, we visited Santa in Dooradoyle Library and completed a traffic survey on the main road. Our most exciting expedition was to O’ Brien’s Farm. We were taken on a tour of the farm and were even allowed to rub the newborn calves. Some of us were brave enough to let the calves suck our fingers!!
