Does Music affect how we move and exercise?

Our fourth class pupils made the short journey into Limerick on Saturday to exhibit their project at the RDS Primary Science Fair in Mary Immaculate College. The children have been working on the project since October. Elements of the investigation involved how different music genres affect how we exercise and how it relates to different exercises. Many sportspeople were interviewed regarding their use of music in training and preparing for matches.

The project was very well received by visitors to the Fair and huge credit is due to the pupils both for the effort they put into completing the investigation and also for the way they represented their school today.

Here is the feedback received by the class:

Congratulations, what a fantastic project!. You had a nice clear investigation question and set about answering it in a very thorough and systematic way. I really like the way you had a variety of skills and exercises to measure. Your data and findings were presented in a very clear and user friendly way. I feel your findings were very valid as you had such careful fair testing strategies. As a person who trains a rugby team I was extra interested in your project and will now make music part of our training regime. Super work you should all be very proud of what you achieved.
