Members of the Greenschool Committee visited the Clareville Water Treatment Plant in Newgarden on the 2nd of February. Patrick, the manager, gave us a tour of the plant and told us all about how water is treated and made safe for us to drink. Water is taken from the River Shannon and treated before being pumped to homes in Limerick City, County Limerick and County Clare. Clareville produces around 52 million litres of water a day! Patrick told us that 40% of the water produced goes to waste. We are making a big effort in school to raise awareness and conserve water. We are asking everyone to follow our Greencode – Slow the Flow, Save H20!!
