On Tuesday 28th March, Elaine Shea, Sports Development Officer with Limerick Sports Partnership visited our school and spoke to all the children about the importance of nutrition and physical activity. The children learned all about the importance of a varied balanced diet and enjoying lots of different foods. She showed the children actually how much sugars are in some of the treats they like to eat. It was a fantastic presentation and the children gained a lot from it.
The top tips for the children were :
• Regular meals every day, breakfast, lunch and dinner
•Drink plenty of water
•Think variety, balance and portion size.
• Use the pyramid to guide what you eat
•Keep treat foods to a minimum
•Increase your activity.
