Congratulations to our 5 aside soccer team who clinched the Munster title today in riveting fashion. We are very proud of this wonderful achievement, a first in the school’s history.

The group games saw the boys gaining wins over the county champions from Waterford and Kerry. They faced a resilient team from Glanmire Co. Cork in the semi final and clinched that game by a slender one goal margin. Now facing a very well balanced Thurles side, Lisnagry had to call on all their skills and determination for the final.

With five minutes remaining after some tenacious football, both teams were tied at one goal a piece, Lisnagry were then  awarded a penalty after Sean Fahy was brought down in the box.. Caimin Ayres played a captains role stepping up to slot home the spot kick. He then produced another moment of magic a minute later  to find the net again and seal the Munster title for Lisnagry.

In total the boys played four matches, showing many fine skills of the game and great teamwork. All of the panel played their part and now go forward to represent Munster in the All Ireland Finals in the Aviva Stadium on May 14th.
